VitaLink nutrients – PlantStart, Max, easy, Coir and Earth - are based on extensive research and development. By working with a leading UK university, we have developed a unique formula that contains ‘plant beneficial ingredients’ not found in any other nutrient range. It is these ingredients which give growers using VitaLink reliable and excellent plant results, regardless of technique or ability.
One of the most important elements your plants require for growth is Phosphorous. It is essential for overall plant development and plays a key role in encouraging large flowers and yield.
Phosphorus is found in all nutrient brands as Phosphate, except for VitaLink. All of the VitaLink nutrients – Max, easy, Coir and Earth – are based on Phosphite. This is much more readily available to your plants’ roots, beneficial microbes and plant tissue than Phosphate. There is also evidence to show that Phosphite encourages your plants to produce a broad spectrum of biologically active metabolites, which leads to improved plant health, growth and productivity. This is not the case with Phosphate.
However, VitaLink has not forgotten Phosphate. It is still in all of the VitaLink nutrients, and it is the unique and delicate ratio of Phosphate to Phosphite which has helped countless growers using VitaLink achieve superior growth rates and increased yields.
Extensive studies have also shown that Phosphite is able to reduce the onset of root diseases, such as Pythium and Phytophthora. Phosphite stimulates your plants’ pathogen (defence) mechanisms, which makes it a natural means of helping to prevent and fight disease. This has been proven at research institutes worldwide.
The importance of Cobalt and Nickel are often not understood and/or overlooked. However, both of these micro elements have an extremely beneficial effect on your plants’ growth and development, which is why they are both in VitaLink!
If your nutrient is deficient in Cobalt, your plants’ roots will have poor associations with Nitrogen-fixing beneficial microbes. These microbes take Nitrogen from the atmosphere and turn it into a form that can be used by your plants, improving growth and vigour. A poor relationship with these microbes will result in limited growth.
Cobalt also participates in the formation of Chlorophyll, one of the pigments that is found in the leaves and absorbs light during the process of Photosynthesis (making of plant food). Cobalt will also inhibit the rate at which the leaves of your plants age. This prevents the early maturing of flowers and fruit, enabling your plants to reach their full potential.
Nickel is essential for the production of an enzyme that breaks down urea to release Nitrogen. If Nickel is not present in the nutrient solution, your plants will accumulate urea in their leaves and consequently show leaf tip necrosis (the death of plant cells, typically brown and crispy).
To keep your plants disease free and healthy, VitaLink contains Vitamin B1. This vitamin causes your plants to produce chemicals that fight disease (pathogens), before your plants come into contact with them. It is a bit like having an army ready to fight before invasion has occurred!
Vitamin B1 will not cure a diseased plant, but it will increase the plant defence mechanism. It will also help your plants to overcome transplant stress by activating their defence mechanism. In turn, this makes transplanting easier and more successful and results in stronger growth.
VitaLink nutrients have unique cleansing properties, which reduce maintenance tasks, such as cleaning pots, tanks and pumps, when using an automated irrigation system.
Most of the VitaLink nutrients are available in either soft or hard water formulations to account for the different mineral compounds in your water, helping to further improve the results you get from your plants.
